Samyang Foods to Acquire Sauce Specialist J&F
South Korean food company, Samyang Foods, has reportedly agreed to acquire a 100% stake in the sauce specialist company J&F for approximately 600 billion KRW. This acquisition marks Samyang Foods' first M&A deal in about a decade since acquiring frozen food company Saeachim (now Samyang Square Meal) back in 2015. J&F supplies ramen soup to major food companies like Nongshim and Ottogi, and also provides raw materials for Samyang Foods' popular product, Buldak Bokkeum Myun. J&F recorded stable financial performance last year with revenue of 41.7 billion KRW and an operating profit of 3.2 billion KRW.
Background and Market Response
Through this acquisition, Samyang Foods aims to strengthen its competitiveness in the sauce business and expects synergies in stabilizing product costs and quality management. However, following the news of the acquisition, the stock price of ES&D, a KOSDAQ-listed company that supplies sauce for Buldak Bokkeum Myun, plummeted due to worsened investor sentiment. Samyang Foods mentioned that they are conducting various considerations at the group level and anticipates that this M&A will play a significant role in the group's mid- to long-term growth strategy.
삼양식품, 소스 전문기업 지앤에프 인수 추진
