Target
A new company spun off from Interpark's e-commerce businesses (travel, air tickets, performances, shopping, books); Interpark was reported as Korea's No.1 air-ticket issuer. Interpark retains 30% of the spun-off entity and sells 70% to Yanolja.
Deal rationale
Yanolja CEO Kim Jong-yoon said the core of the deal was to combine Interpark's brand loyalty and service know-how with Yanolja's technology and global network to build a global travel-tech company, and to respond early to overseas travel demand in the 'with-COVID' era. Yanolja said it would launch air-booking services, dynamic packages, performance-linked travel packages and live commerce. Interpark selected Yanolja as preferred bidder and signed an MOU on 2021-10-14, and the agreement to acquire 70% for KRW 294bn was finalized on 2021-12-28.
