Target

M-Plus Asset Management, founded in 2008 and brought into the Military Mutual Aid Association (MMAA) group in 2015, is a real-estate-focused asset manager running real estate funds, development projects, overseas alternatives and corporate finance, including blind funds for MMAA, Korea Capital and Daehan Land Trust.

Deal rationale

After FSC approval of the major-shareholder review, MMAA on 16 April 2026 sold 50%+1 share of wholly owned M-Plus Asset Management to Apex Invest, keeping the remainder under a shareholder agreement with call and put options described as strengthening cooperation. Apex Invest, set up by former shareholders of Apex Asset Management, is led by chairman Jeong Sang-ik, who became M-Plus CEO; it said it would combine M-Plus with Apex's equity funds and staff to build a comprehensive asset manager spanning real estate and equities. MTN interpreted the sale as a governance restructuring prompted by the real-estate PF downturn and weak results.
