Target

SK Nexilis's thin-film business makes flexible copper clad laminate (FCCL) used in chip-on-film for displays such as smartphones and TVs, a line that grew out of SKC's film technology; after the carve-out it was renamed Flexion.

Deal rationale

SK Nexilis's board resolved on 13 November 2024 to transfer the thin-film business to Affirma Capital for KRW 95bn and signed the business transfer agreement the same day. Reports attributed the decision to financial strain from the slump in its core copper-foil business amid the EV demand lull; SKC said proceeds would strengthen core businesses, shift toward high-value products such as glass substrates and improve financial soundness. The deal closed in April 2025.
